My Feel-Good-Go-To Food

Gigi's famous poppyseed bread with almond/orange glaze. Me, a big slice, mug of coffee, and HGTV. Perfection!

Scar ______

13 days after his basement stair tumble, Scarhead is healing nicely. Exit stage left, please.

Enter stage right: Scarface!

Tongue

Andy: "Guess what I just rescued?" (Carrying Ashton back into the living room from around the kitchen corner.) "The toilet ... from Ashton's tongue!"

Your Job

After a day of me being sick in bed with shivers and a fever, Andy sweetly took a day off of work to stay at home with the boys and I. After 10 hours of taking care of us, with both boys in bed:

Andy: Your job is a pain in the butt! I haven't showered or brushed my teeth all day!

Me: Aw, you poor thing!

Funny, that's usually our conversation, just in reverse!

Breakfast Around Our House

For some odd reason, I am incredibly lax about breakfast. The boys usually get whatever they want, wherever they want. Strange for me, but anyways. Could have something to do with mommy non-lucidity due to blogging late at night. Maybe, just maybe there's something to that. LOL

Friends in Africa

My friend Ashley and I go all the way back to the summer before 9th grade. Through the years we lost touch, but ironically have been corresponding now that I live in NY and she in Africa! Well, she and her hubbie, Timothy, are amazing missionaries and they just celebrated the birth of their son, IN Africa. Any moms reading this are saying, "What?!" You read that correctly! Go read their story at Ashley's blog: http://kellersc23.com/blog/ I had what I considered a "hectic" day, but nothing in comparison to what the Kellers go through every day. God bless them, and may they be a reminder to each of us to analyze the motives behind our life decisions and how they compare to glorifying His kingdom. And if they're not, then change it!

Flashlight Walk

A few days ago ... after dinner, the boys were going stir crazy. I sent the oldest 2 out the door (well wrapped, I might add!).

Paparazzi

Aiden has a naturally subdued personality, but when he opens up, it's party time! Here he is rocking my sunglasses (all his idea).

"Do I look cool, Mommy?"

Cooler than Ditty. Or is it just P.? I can't keep up!

Or maybe Lindsay Lohan

See, he can do a druggie look too!

This kid is my buddy and constant source of either exasperation or laughter (or both!)

Weather Update

Tomorrow's forecast: Sunny. High of 16. With Wind Chill: 0-2 Degrees Fahrenheit.

As I sit on the couch, wrapped in sweater over a sweater, contemplating checking on the boys to make sure they are under their covers, I watch House Hunters International. Today's stop: the Nicaraguan coast.

Hmmm. Hmmm.

Old Man Winter

He came a knocking and I said, "You can come, just not inside." He's stickin' around for a while.

Happy New Year!

Andy and I rang in the New Year in front of the tv, flipping between channels for the best of Black Eyed Peas, Daughtry, and Green Day while battling it out over a hot game of Monopoly. Finally at 2am, I was declared the champion!

And as you can tell, we haven't ever opened our Monopoly game. After 6.5 years, it was time!

Daddy and Lil' Ash

Andy's Birthday

Poor Andy, his birthday was overridden by the trip to the ER with Ashton. I had a party planned, with our University of Nebraska fan friends coming over to watch the Holiday Bowl Game with us. Andy ended up just catching the 4th quarter of the game, to see his alma mater getting stomped. He also didn't get his cheese pizza but had to settle with taquitos and enjoyed his chocolate sheet cake at 11pm. Definitely not the best birthday. I am hoping the new video game will help cheer him up!

Ashton took it upon himself to try and unwrap Andy's birthday gifts. He tried for almost a month to tear into them. And then Andy ended up unwrapping them after Ash had gone to bed! )-:
