It floods the basement, or so will happen if the forecasters are right and we (and by we, I mean Andy) don't figure out something. The main sump pump in the basement failed about a month ago. And the battery-run backup pump failed yesterday. And today it completely died. And it's Christmas day and nowhere is open. We've bailed about 20 gallons so far, and now Andy is trying to see what's going on in the pit of gunk and what he needs to get at the store in the morning. As early as the Man Store opens! And to think that we were suppose to be having a date night on the couch, watching the new Star Trek movie (thanks to Sass!). Oh, the joys of homeownership!
Update: 2 hours later, I have hauled 20+ of my largest kitchen bowls full of water up the stairs and down the kitchen sink. Hopefully that will tie us over (so it doesn't flow over!) until tomorrow. You can bet we won't be sleeping super peaceful tonight. And it won't have anything to do with the fact that the boys have colds and will undoubtedly wake up somewhere between 1-11 times!
Sounds like someone might be in need of some water wings -- ho-ho-ho! Nope, no sump pump needed out West. No backup battery pump either. Have fun using your Engineering degree Andy. Just glad to see that your bucket brigade works. Homeownership. Isn't it fun?
ReplyDeleteFreddie, you made Andy laugh out loud! Thankfully, the new pumps are working like champs. Pumping 30+ gallons in 15 seconds! MUCH faster than I was hauling!
